Restorative justice, self-indulgence and the trust we’ve lost

Happy International Restorative Justice week 2017! As has become customary on RJ Week, The IARS International Institute’s Director – Dr. Theo Gavrielides – has been reflecting on restorative processes and their strengths & weaknesses. In his latest blog Dr. Gavrielides reflects on declining public trust and asks whether Restorative Justice is doing enough to address the inbalances in our societies’ power structures. Yet again, this year “the core theme of International Restorative Justice week is “innovation”” – and the blog challenges practitioners to remind themselves of their “original values, truths and intentions”, and continue to push for a better and fairer justice system.

With the YEIP project based on the Good Lives Matter, and its strong links to restorative practices, this blog make very interesting reading for anyone interested in the work done by the partnership!

Furthermore look out for The IARS International Institute’s series of Guest Blogs for RJ Week coming out everyday this week, shining the light on a number of our members and the valuable work they do!
