The project was overseen by an independent academic board that included experts in the related field of criminology, extremism, human rights and research methods. The Board was consulted on a number of aspects including acting as peer reviewers for the various ebooks and publications that resulted from the project. Moreover, an Ethics Committee was drawn from the board that reviewed research ethics applications where fieldwork for the project impacted on vulnerable groups.
